Waiting for AC... Go with rFactor! Empty Waiting for AC... Go with rFactor!

Post by Luca Orsetti Mon Nov 19, 2012 4:55 pm

The wait for AC becomes more and more high, so I try anything that might somehow attenuate impatience. Waiting for AC... Go with rFactor! 964932

I know the opinions and prejudices (justified) that many of us have to rFactor, but there is a really interesting mod that made me completely change my mind.

I made this video to show you a few laps with a Lotus Exige S240 at Laguna Seca. Physics is very, very credible and there is a great natural feel driving. On this occasion I also used a mod that forces you to press the clutch otherwise the gears do not enter, and considering that you have to use the heel & toe technique to downshift properly, the immersion increases very much.

On the last lap (from minute 6:20 onwards) I tried to do some (small) drifts, to confirm that the car is controllable unlike many other mods where as soon as the rear becomes lighter inevitably goes into a spin ...

This mod, in my opinion, is very close to netKar. Indeed, in some aspects is even better (obligation to press the clutch and day night cycle). Enjoy! Very Happy Waiting for AC... Go with rFactor! 361709

I'm not too surprised about what you said. I wanted to work on elise/exige physics myself (for nk obviously), since you can easily find a lot of tecnical data around. There are a lot of tecnical documents that lotus made available, and a lot of fun clubs around the world in which people discuss about almost every single detail you need.

    Great video!!!
I can conferm what Luca says about the physic of the car..i have been driving it and it's properly realistic.
As always, what really impress me is the precision that Luca has while driving Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked unbelivable!

    Little OT about the track:
if you take a look ad this http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/laguna_seca.html you notice that we are waaayyyy too fast with a 500 abarth!
So maybe something with the track is not right...i think (as Luca previously said) the track is too short compared with the real one.
And looking at this video, you can notice that in rFactor it looks a lot longer...

    Anyway Grats mate...cool video!!

You have to try Rfactor2, since i have it, i barely play on netkar pro..Physics are amazing..braking and acelerating in another level...

I hope that AC come out soon, i need to try that technical demo, but until Kunos release it, i will be playing on rfactor2...

Every time that i have to start to play think i will go to netkar but as soon i look my screen rfactor2 is starting...i could not stop it....the inmersion on the cars are so great...The major downfall is when you loose grip on rear tires, so hard to maintain the car...but you can feel every bump on the track...

    Only one word Amazing...

P.D: i love the Lotus Exige, when i could i will buy one and will be my car for so many years...

I have measured the netKar version of the track driving some clean slow laps and checking the telemetry data with AIM Race Studio Analysis.
If you keep the center of the road, the track is 3420 meters long (against 3602 meters of the real).
If you drive following normal race trajectories, it is 3395meters.. Our version is around 200 meters shorter than the real one.

    +1 I like rF2 alot.

Does anybody know how I can get rfactor for free? ISI charges 40 U.S dollars for rfactor and 48 canadian dollars for rfactor. Well the Canadian dollar is worth more than the American dollar so they are ripping off Canadians. I guess ISI doesn't like us. LOL. Thanks.

Yeah the 60 min demo is bullshit. By the time you setup your wheel and buttons and figure out how to use it you've got like 20 mins of driving.

Do you know a good torrent site? I heard piratebay is full of virus's. Thanks.

Maybe it's because I'm too stupid, but I copied the folders of the Sport Coupe Mod into the rFactor2 folder, yet nothing to see ingame.
I put it into rFactor2/Installed, isn't that right? Where exactly do I have to put the folders of the mod? The description of the installation isn't clear at all...
