a question I always wanted to ask 'till the last days:
where do you get the track-line data (GPS or something) from to create all the appropiate track-line for the new Tracks (Imola, Mugello, Magione, Spa, ..) ?
Is it just comparing with real videos or do you have real data of these tracks ?
-Of course I know some tracks are converted from existing GPS tracks, but what about -appropiate GPS for- the other 'non-converted' tracks.. ?

When we create scratch made tracks we try to gather as much data as possible. Usually we try to get official maps with altimetry, or gps data.
For Mugello we started with google earth data, but we realized, comparing with videos, that it's not accurate enough. We got some informations too late to do some changes, so we got some errors there.
For Imola, instead, we got a very accurate altimetric profile directly from the circuit direction, so we should be safe on that Smile
For Zandvoort, checking some videos we realized that the original simbin track was completely wrong on some parts. Likely we found a gps track, so we will be able to fix it. This will be a very tough job, so we might fix just were it's really needed.
Magione is easy: it's always pretty much at the same elevation!

The real problem is that even gps data are usually not as accurate and "dense" as you would like them to be. That's why you always need a good feedback from real drivers, and you need to check plenty of videos and pictures, although all of them can mislead you. It's not always easy to get it absolutely right. Corners camber is very important too, and usually it's very difficult to get this informations. Same goes with micro bumps on the track. Very important to get the track alive, but usually even very complex to spot, unless you really have driven there!

thx for this detailed answer Shocked Smile Wink . I can imagine that it might be quite difficult to get all the altitude stuff exact and everything like this as you metioned (in general a long hard work sometimes I guess).
So again, thx for all those great effort to study out all the details and so on spa 67322 !
