LOL, it was a piece of crap, but for £20 what do you expect Wink I'm surprised Williams allowed their name to be used though (regardless of how much Joytech paid them).

Almost snap time wise. My motherboard is sitting in a depot waiting for pickup tomorrow. Phase 1 of the new rig is :

    ASUS 1155 P8Z68-V PRO S/L
    Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4GHz
    Corsair H60 Hydro Cooler
    16GB Corsair 1600Mhz
64Gb Sata 3 SSD (Crucial M4) (configured as a cache)
4TB consisting of Various Sata II drives from the current rig.
    Asus nVIDIA GTX 570
    Mod X-Stream 700w Supply

Phase 2 will hopefully see an additional GTX 570 and two 27in HD monitors for a three monitor setup.

Course, I'll still be behind you all, but I'm hoping the back of your cars will look wonderful!

let me know how the single 570 performs Piers, as thats my next upgrade Smile

also, OCZ PSU's arent great. i wouldnt be tempted to run two 570s and an overclocked 2600k (i assume thats what youll be doing) on a 700w either.

I've a bunch of supplies so if the OCZ isn't up to the job, I'll swap in one that will!

But 700w in our climate should be fine, bear in mind that the quoted max draw on the cards and the CPU are when they are all maxed out. About the only thing that will actually do that are the benchmark suites. I have a storm 700w supply in the current rig (Q6600 + 9800 GTX+) with a power meter and it rarely goes above 200W. Maybe I'll plug that in and see what the actual power draw is. I'm not planning on massive over clocking - the main goal is to be reasonably fast but quiet as a mouse.

guess its not really the climate, its about power draw as you say. ive heard some bad stories about OCZ PSU's overheating and such so its just a heads up Wink

Power supply is very important to use a graphics card full consumes between 450 and 480 watt, you add memory, processeseur, the disk drive, the fans,
so do not hesitate investire has a power supply brand, especially not the cheap power supplies and no brand, which announced 800/1000 watt! They must meet the standard 80 more!
I personally have a Seasonic 850W M12D, which feeds my system without problem

Enermax, Corsair, CoolerMaster, are also of great power supply

The graphics card was tested at 150w idle and 330w under load. I picked up the MB today and started the build. Unfortunately the monster length 3 slot GTX 570 didn't fit in the case. I returned the case and took the opportunity to return the power supply. 700w would have been OK for one card but I figure it's not worth the risk when I move to two. So sans power supply I now need to rip this PC apart if I want to build today. I must be getting old as I'm thinking it might wait till the weekend!
