Re: Some new tracks
hi, one question, after recording with fraps, what´s the best or most common software to use to convert to mp4? just any converter?

Re: Some new tracks
I'm not sure sorry. I'm not fully happy with the quality as it is. I recorded this in half size to be able to have decent framerate while driving. 2 files at a little over 4gb, one at 2 gb I think. The black gaps in the vid is where they cut together, dunno why that happen.
End result just over 200 mb.
I use Sony Vegas for editing.

Green Hell + Vintage + Rain + Beer!
Great work, the track is looking very very good. Just out of curiosity, the setup used on that Osella was the default one?

I don't think so , with the default one you'd be on the rev limiter for a long timeFernando Zart wrote:Great work, the track is looking very very good. Just out of curiosity, the setup used on that Osella was the default one?

Re: Some new tracks
By the way I 've noticed that the track has a lot of grip than any other sim that I 've tried through the years
Of course I will know for sure if I drive it after the release and make my comparison

Re: Some new tracks
Yes it was a custom setup. The Osella with default setup is very hard to drive in this track for me, I think the very loose anti roll bars is set for the many hair pins in trento.
About grip.. this was mentioned before.. As I understand things only thing you do when converting from rFactor for example is renaming the road to 01road and so on.. this gives the road default grip, same at all tracks. You can lower grip in kof but I dont think this is a good idea in a bumpy track, and should be done very carefully in special circumstances.
Another thing is the bumpy surface which often is a problem converting from rFactor, off course grip factor is not lowered but you lose grip with traction so overall you will have less grip in this track than at a standard F1 track like Hungaroring which is very smooth.

Re: Some new tracks
Judging by the video, this is the most wanted track (for me) on netkar pro, because it is fun even when driving alone. I can't recall how many virtual laps I've done on this circuit (rFactor, GTR2, Evo, even on SHIFT! - and now on netkar, finally). I guess the experience in netkar will be the best of all, due the nature of the sim. Racing it online must be really cool, too bad I'm from Brazil and rarely find local nkpro servers/drivers around (and I fear ruining other driver's race due my high ping when joining servers in Europe)Tomas Torasen wrote:Yes it was a custom setup. Re: Some new tracks
Yes I agree. For me this is the track I've probably done most laps at, and thats pretty crazy since it's the longest one I've driven too But I only drove it in Shift 1 and 2.
I was curious of how it would be to drive it with these superior physics and for me it's incredible to drive the different cars in netKar.
But I know there are those who only like to drive KS2, prefer smooth F1 tracks and dont really care for cars like Formula Ford.
So there will probably be some that think it's too bumpy, which I agree on if you drive the KS2.
Anyway. Some bugs have been found that I can not fix in this version, since it's so damn long and the work just to fix transparencys and shaders is just too much to go over again. And at this time I cant go back to 3ds max and fix stuff like bumps.
So I have decided to release this version, after the beta race tonight, and the few bugs that I can fix have been fixed, as version 0,9.
After a little break I will go back to max to work on those last bugs (theres a little space between one curb and the road which most will not notice and it has no practical effect in driving experience). The road is also a little too bumpy, but only at one place in the full course imo.
But so many waiting to drive the track now.

Re: Some new tracks
Curiously, the KS2 is the car that I *don't* like to drive, because I think it's too grippy/easy. Sure it is fun sometimes, but I prefer to race with underrated cars (FTarget, Vintage, F1800), because then you have to master their balance (less or no aero at all), and be gentle and precise on the maneuvers to avoid loosing momentum. You must keep the revs on the right place at all times, there is no fast recovering... and tracks like 'The Mother' are the most fun for me, because they remind me some roads that I drive on sundays near my town on my eclipse.
Oh I wish I could participate on this beta race tonight. Gosh, even if I could, I don't even have a setup for it. LOL.
Good luck at the race!

Re: Some new tracks
Yes this is just a matter of taste, nothing wrong with it. Since I come from more arcadish racing I was hooked by the brilliance in physics and challenge when I first tried it.
The KS2 it much closer in experience to the more arcadish games like shift, F1 2010 and so on, imo.
All other cars are in a different league as I feel it, maybe F2000 and FTarget is somewhere in between too.
Thanks

Re: Some new tracks
So.. after the beta test session some thought it was a little too bumpy. Me and some other people didnt agree. As it should be
Anyway, I went back to smooth the bumps just a little, and to fix a couple other stuff. I ended up doing a complete texture update and fixing a bunch of stuff I came up with.
Close to finishing up this new version now. We'll do a beta test race again to find any last errors, and if it passes this time it will be released after that.

Re: Some new tracks
I know, Andrea. But in my browser those 1080p screens get cut off, and it looks terrible that way. I wanted to show them in full res.
Hey, Fernando.. Yes it's closed, I already have a tight group which give me great feedback and drive the track alot

Re: Some new tracks
I can't wait to try that legendary track on netkar!
But I think your new textures are not realist... the tarmac looks old and damaged... whereas the real tarmac is so much better:
http://www.panoramio.com/photo/18625904
As you can see, it's very clean, and looks very "new" (unlike your textures)

Re: Some new tracks
Well no matter how I turn I will have my ass behind me, and someone will prefer something else so
For me, this looks better than the original textures. Especially since netKar doesnt have any shadowing and fully functioning bump and specular map support. Everything becomes flat and a little boring with a straight rFactor conversion.
I dont agree that my textures make the road look very old though, they have some texture to them instead of looking low res and blurry. Especially in backlit situations you see alot of texture in asphalt in real life.

Re: Some new tracks
I liked it.
Sure the tarmac textures aren't like the real ones on the current track, but I think that these textures add to the "atmosphere factor" of the track, and in the end they all "blend" very well, judging by the pictures. (And, being it a little bumpy, may add to sense of speed too... )

Wow, the reflecting sun on the track's surface is back in this release, how is this made possible again ? I missed it in all of the latest releases (Sun on the surface was'n there at all new unofficial
tracks because of a change in Nk's trackeditor or s.th. like that ). Also I like those light-fadings of the far away objects, I think this is not there to be admired in most of the other new releases too.
