temperature - Kunos tips: tires temperature Empty Kunos tips: tires temperature

Post by Admin Sat Apr 25, 2009 1:46 pm

    [ENGLISH "free"translation]
Optimal temperature are around 80 degrees for all the slick and 60 for the grooved on th FF

If you are driving at Aviano, the Front Left tire is working only on the 2 right turns that are much slower then the left turns. Warming up the Front Left tire is almost impossible.
Same thing happen at Prato with the Front Right tire, because the left tire receive all the weight of the car during the right turns.

The difference between the internal and external temperature can’t be analyzed with rules like “10 degree more”, because that rule could be true for one particular tire, but not for every one.

One of the functions that will be on the tab “race engineer” will be to display the a “camber indication”, starting from the tires temperatures.
In nKP tires work better with 3-4 degrees of camber. Of course, not the static camber, but the dynamic camber, that is always less then the static camber during the turns, but it always depends on how stiff is the car.

You can use camber settings to control tires working temperatures, and not only to have the grip advantage of the camber thrust.
More negative camber means that the point of contact will move where the tire is warmer. If increasing the degree of negative camber you can loose 0.05g of grip, but you will gain 20 degree of temperature reaching the optimal temperature of 80 degrees getting +0.1g, I will be faster, because, no matter the 0.05g lost due to excessive camber, because I will get +0.1 due to the optimal temperature.
    As usual it’s a compromise.
