Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
Tomas we really do need mirrors for overseas. The download might be fast in Europe, but here in Australia it is coming down at 20 KB/s, and that's on a very fast link! I want to see your track, but I don't know if I want to wait 4 hours for it :-/

Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
Fantastic work Tomas!
After real 24h Zurich ADAC race last week on Nordschleife, I have to say it is a lot of fun to drive on your track, finaly with netKar Pro now!
But one question:
I liked the first video with plenty clear summer weather. Is there a possibility to drive on it soon? As I read on some early posts, there would be a "Extras" folder to change some summer textures with the deffault "Fall", but with this first release I can´t find it! Eny help?
Thnx!

Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
I don't think the version in the Marangoni simulator did. With that if you reset the laptime counter would continue running.Juha Pyy wrote:
BTW, anyone know how they've made the start line at Trento Bondone so that it always resets the lap time counter?
I think it was decided the download would be too large with additional textures, as some people have download limits etc.Zoltan Vastag wrote:I liked the first video with plenty clear summer weather. Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
My first post is updated with hot lap add on for you guys that already downloaded the track.
Also a mirror which included the addon along with all track files.
The summer textures were cut, as Carey mentioned. Due to size. Imo visually this version is so much better than those old both fall and summer textures that it isnt needed.

Hi,
apart from the compliments I have to do for this great track, I can confirm to have the same problem of Renè.
Tried everything, also to join a server online, but I can't really get the Tourist version to work.

Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
Maybe Andrea or some other more experienced converter have some suggestions. I really have no idea why it doesnt work for you guys..
The fact that it works for most people makes it not just a little strange to me and hard to analyze.

Attached last lines of netKar log file.
It seems to crash in the cam loading part. (81 cam?)
By the way, other version loads fine also the cam part without errors

Yes, that was the test I was doing.
Yes, without cam file the track is definetively loading.
Only thing is that it seems that the initializing phase take really a lot longer than other 2 version

Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
Hmm ok.. shouldnt take alot longer.. it's just a different nkrefs.ini that define where the pits, boxes and start grid are placed.
What's normally heavy to load like massive 3d geometry, textures and so on are exactly the same, they share the same base.
What resolution for the game are you running?

Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
Ok, about the longer loading time I made some tests.
Without cam files (or with one from another track) all version loads BUT alla version take a long time to load (also the GP version).
So I think that if you find the error, with the proper file cam also teh tourist version should load fine and faster.
I'm also looking at it, but can't find a clue at the moment.
I run 1920x1200 32 bits
I'm going out in 20 min, son can't continue in testing.
I'll take a look again tomorrow, hope to have been helpful in finding the bug.

Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
My thought was just if running lower res (I only tested in 1920'1080) maybe the fov makes the game interpret two cameras to be similarly close and mix it up or something. Because the cameras are not named..
You can have 1, 2, 3 and so on, or just ignore numbering them and the game will automatically choose which one is closest, which is what I did.
I will look at it, but I'm not sure really what can bug out in a camera file.. theres not anything complicated in making them..
What I can do though is making an optional camera file, so when you switch to tourist version you also switch camera file which doesnt have the cams inside the gp track..
I'll need someone that has this error to test it though, maybe the other guy with same problem can help.. or you later..

Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
Just tried some extrem test.
Tracks loads fine in 800x600 , but still problem also in 1920x1080 (you told you tested OK) and also in 1650x1050 and 1440x900.
I agree with you, it's not something in the cam file structure.

Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
ok but still.. just a few have this problem.
Also the problem we had before release with just 3 people seeing walls that were defined hidden through config files, no one else saw them and they werent supposed to be there.
We solved it by adding a command in the config files. But that doesnt explain why peoples netKar installation behaves differently.

Thnx for reply!
Pleace let me explain my feel about the track and take it as a opinien from a older nK Pro user that have this amazing sim almost from the beginning.
First, we haven´t fall now, we have summer and not always morning dust and why should we not enjoy with summer daylight races as usual on other tracks? On interst and intend for all of us and to do it as real it would be nice to become some day those promised summer texture files! Preaty is not always real, or?
Second, I see to much sun reflections on the tarmac for my opinien! Sometimes I feel the tarmac is wet or threre is ice on it! I saw several times real 24h races on Nordschleife and I saw never this large sun reflections, sorry! A bit less would be maybe better!
Third, when I set the video settings on 1280x1024 pic with 8x antiali and go to creama track it looks fine antialiased and smooth and after that switch on your Nordschleife, i become this bad aliased picture wit all this jitter ec.!? After that all other tracks looks also bad aliased when i switch on it! What is that a problem?
And the last, a bit lower grip would be more real IMO! Just drive Osella car on Crema track and everything would be clear what I mean!
Thnx again for such amazing job and result!

Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
What graphics card do you have? And maybe more importantly, how much memory does it have? I'm suspecting you're running out of texture memory and thus nKP crashes while loading the track. The track's texture files take ~460 MB of HDD space, which is almost double than the next most demanding track (Mugello with ~250 MB).Marco Calesella wrote:Just tried some extrem test.

For example, I have a Radeon 5770 with 1GB memory. Using 1920x1080 resolution, loading Nordschleife crashes if I use the maximum texture quality setting, all lower texture settings work fine.

Re: Nordschleife for netKar released!
Yes it's not dangerous to critique =) I prefer honest people.
Basically my answer is; If i convert a track I will do it as I prefer it, I will seperate estethic opinions about visual appearence and go with my own taste, simply because I can never satisfy other people as much as I can myself. Also considering there can never be a matter of right or wrong when it comes to visual taste.
When it comes to bumps, track surface and realism I will listen more.
The other tracks with summer textures can not be devided into one group in my opinion. You have for example the original tracks like Crema, Aosta and Trento that looks absolutely amazing to my taste. Then you have converted tracks that looks everything between pretty good to crap.
Then theres the decision of where to artistically stop with bling bling extra visual stuff like a fall-theme, fog or what have you. I dont feel my artistic expression are too exaggerated, but again it's a matter of taste.
Maybe I will release a summer add-on later for it. It means some work but not too much. First a little break though.
Thanks for critique. And btw, to turn off the fog you can simply open fog.ini and turn it to totally 0.

Strangely the new kto included in the hotlap.rar solved all my problems.
Now I can run all versions without problems.
