13 June 2014: Fun Event

Hello RSR friends, we would like to invite you all to our first event with AC. We've been away from competitions for too long, and we've been missing that a lot. It's time to go back on track and have some fun together once more.

To roll things off, we decided to organize a fun event, just to getting once more in the competition mood.

We've decided to keep it simple: 1 car, mclaren mp4-12C GT3, and 4 tracks: mugello, imola, monza, silverstone.

Servers will be based on entry list, so you will be pre-booked and you will be able join on the event day on your own server any time.

To keep it simple, groups will be based on LIVE TIMING rank at mugello with mp4-12C GT3.

We've created a steam group, and we will use the steam group chat as our meeting point.
There is also a nice voice chat integrated. Feel free to use it all the time you want to go on track for your trainings, also to meet other people of the RSR community to have some fun together on track.
We found this very helpful also in our daily pick up races. That's a good meeting point to join together the same server.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please post here a link to your RSR Live Timing profile, so that we can configure the server. In case you will not be able to join the event anymore, please let us know.

We hope to see a lot of the old friends on track with us, and possibly also some new faces.

I hope my graphics card won't shut down in the race. The GTX 560ti, I still have in use, is a bit sensible, a known issue. So it's nothing related to AC, it can happen in other games or benchmarks too.
I already downclocked it about 200 MHZ + put 0.050 V more Voltage, otherwise it would shut down in already just a few seconds . But it's still a bit of luck, if it will run stable or not. My last test with 690 MHZ and 1,062V went stable, so hopefully it will work tomorrow as well. At 1,050 V and lower it almost certainly crashed after ~20 Mins or so.. .

So if I'll be out of the server all of a sudden, you now know the source of it.

At first I thought, every track has its own date / race-day. But I assume they are held one after another at only this friday, right ?
If so, a lot work to do for me for practcing/setups for imola, silverstone, monza. Only prepared for Mugello so far.

Yes, but one side in me is too much of a perfectionist, I always have to tweak my setup until I'm happy with it, even for a fun event.
But maybe I can pretty much apply the car balance of my Mugello setup for the other tracks as well.

As long as I do not refresh the server stats already during the booking phase (or do not refresh it at least one time close before the booking phase is over), it can happen that I can't join the server even after refresh.
I think I found out this for me at this events.

summary:
Mugello: I screwed it up by myself, spinning out at the first of the high speed right hander corners up the hill. No qualy result for me: Had problems at the first join (steam chat,.. caused stutter), after shutting the chat and other minor things down and rejoining, the stutter gladly was gone. But server-time was over just 100m pre the finish of my hotlap.
Imola: Forgot to change from soft to medium tires at the start, so I started the race with soft tires, which do not last over three or four laps (after that 5-6 laps or so those tires get undriveable).
And generally my car and me was not prepared for this track at all. Did previously only a few laps on this track since AC is out.
Monza: Good race. This was the race, where all people had most fun this time, kind of less major driving mistakes there from all.
Silverstone: Starting from 3rd (or 4rth) I later let the rear go (over a curb or at an another happening) and lost my good position.
-Once the rear gets into a slide = no grip, grip lose = sliding off the track in AC. Also over curbs sometimes there is sudddenly no grip, because the curb/the grip change of the curb gets the rear to silde. You have to drive quite clean all the time in AC (with most cars).
