Post by Gary Levy Tue Jan 18, 2011 10:43 am

    Let's all go anti-clockwise it's.....Istanbul Park! Smile

    Istanbul Istanbulf

Quite a lot of changes on this one,

    - smoothed track

    - re-modeled pit entry/exit, ad gantries, and bridges

    - new models added

    - many changed textures

    - adjusted curbs

Track seems to drive pretty well with good grip level, I've put in some decent laps with the KS2, and would love to hear what people think of it.

A big thank you to Com8 for a great track and for allowing me to convert it.

    Hope you all enjoy Smile

    Gary.

P.S. next project is Valencia Street Circuit.

    Changes include :-

    - All run-off areas have been adjusted and are now

    tarmac not grass.

    - Bollards are no longer wall objects.

    - New, re-positioned distance markers.

    - Various new sections of curb and existing curbs extended.

    - Re-built apex four of turn eight,to allow for a curb,it's not perfect,

but at least there is now a proper length curb at, what I feel, is

    a crucial corner.

    - Adjusted grip levels, track grip is very slightly raised, run-off

    grip reduced.

    - Sectors now perfectly aligned to avoid replay camera issues

    - A few replaced textures, including pitboxes, run offs, the lake and

replaced the annoying shimmery Potenza adboards.

Hopefully now all is good Smile

    Gary.

Thanks for the video, Ulus. I don't know who is faster: Gary converting a track, or you making a video!

Thank you for the track which is really nice to drive but i feel like the big bump in the last sector is a real turn off for me because i don't notice it in F12010 plus i don't see it on F1 videos either.

Anyway back OT, after watching the video in post 4 i thought he was using to much downforce so i gave it a try and did nothing special.

Gary there are some things that could be fixed: The grey runoff-areas are tarmac not gravel or grass, and the distance markers are definitely misplaced at some points on the track (after T8, and after the long straight). I hope you find the time to fix this.

EDIT: By misplaced I mean they are too far away from the real corner entrace (after the long straight the 50 m marker should say 100 m 'cause it still is that far)

I noticed the run-offs too, but they can always be re-named in KOF. I don't like the posts behaving like a wall though, they should be called POLY, and will be destructible (if Kunos ever fixes/implements it).

Thanks very much for the feedback guys, I'll be making some changes for the 1.1 version.Just so I can be absolutely sure of what changes to make I've got a couple of questions.

    - where exactly is the "big bump" in the last sector? I've tried numerous laps with default set-up and can't find it.

    - it's easy enough to re-name the run-off as tarmac, but then there is no penalty for going off track, as the netkar system is fairly basic with nothing between "Road" and "Grass". I don't mind changing it, but do people feel this would make the track too easy?

Only do so where there's tarmac run-off in real life, then it's Herman Tilke's fault Razz

I think going wide isn't really an advantage here. And when you made the run-offs tarmac, ask Andrea about changing the grip level in the run-offs, it's dirty there (also in real-life). Razz

Just working on the updated version now, all run offs are now tarmac, but it would be great to know how to alter the level of grip.

    Ask Andrea via PM.
I won't tell you, because "we" don't want cheaters altering the grip level in every track.

wonderful Gary! Thanks a lot for the fast update and the very accurate change list. That's the way to do it!!!

Please let's keep 1 topic only without the version name on it. I changed the name of the topic and copied on the first post your change list.

This will help me a lot for the Addon Tracker.
