There are a lot of companies involved in Linux kernel, and i don't see they broke the code,
There are open source alternatives in racing sim.
Racer is not anymore open source, but it's used as simulator by one F1 team taking the old free source and making modifications to solve their needs.
Speed dreams is a good simulator, but it's alpha state, planning to change engine, etc.
Vdrift too arcade for my taste, but fun to make drifts.
StuntRally, based on Vdrift but with OGRE engine.
Rigs of Rods, uses OGRE engine and you can drive any vehicle you can imagine.
There are choices, just waiting for more people to contribute to mature enough.
PD: I can run nkpro on Linux using PlayOnLinux. Still one bug online that shows all cars in a little window, instead of his place. Maybe on next version they will solve the bug i filled,
