Turn it off Razz It's a league Hunt. 3 races in a row ended by Biggio now. Just watched the whole replay back, he also rammed Gerard several times. Gerards quit now & I'm not surprised.

    F1800 - Blackwood races

Veeery bad quali, more than 1 sec. slower than my usual lap speed, got no clean lap with very slightly performance issues also.
On the last minute of qualy I left space to the drivers in front for my last hotlap, but another driver came behind me (he should have left more space to my car before beginning his last quali-lap), attacking me,
noone liked to give space, so we crashed.

On each race I decided before the start to drop back at the start for savety reasons..., because on this track I had freezing FPS for some seconds -game freezed for some seconds always with much cars
around..- at turn 2+3+4 (that part of the track) after the start with full grid... .
But I lost sooo much unnecessary time doing this, getting out of gravel, starting the engine again with clutch,... -it took somehow an eternity to get the car up again after parking the car at start Smile.

Race two was acceptable, I needed 0 pit-stops and had still 1,8 litres left after driving all 20 laps at the end of the race, I saved fuel in the first laps, doing that wouldn't even have been necessary.. .
Shifiting at 5700 rpm with the F1800 saves fuel and is faster at the same time.. Smile (because above 5700 rpm the F1800 engine ps-power get's massively less).

Just a secondary thing about the lenght of the track
The declared lenght is 5 Km, so that the long race in the result report is 100 Km long.

I checked in pit after the race and my tyres after the 20 laps (I covered all race without Pit Stop) were used for 67 km.

    So we have 2 possibilities:
    1) the declared lenght of the track is wrong (being instead 3.35 Km)
    2) netKar fails in measuring the distance driven

Joke apart, I think there is something wrong in the declared lenght.
If we look at the record for the 1800 in the rank (1.16.xxx ) we can calculate the average speed

Lenght 5 Km => Av.Speed = 237 Km/h Shocked (Never touched, not even as max speed)
    Lenght 3.35 Km => Av.Speed = 158 Km/h 22 Sept 2011: Blackwood 361709

There is also a third possibility, I'm dumb and I'm missing something!!! Laughing

Ok Andrea, not a very important thing by the way.

Please note that 3.35 is my rough extimation, perhaps Marius (if I'm correct he is the author of the conversion), or some telemetry file can give a more precise value, if needed.

As far as I remember after the race, I had a this exact value of 67 km used tires as you too after 20 laps. So your calculated 3.35 km must be already nearly the correct value [67 km : 20 laps = 3.35 km/lap].
...Shocked No!, edit -we forgot something-: In addition to 20 laps I did also a complete warum up lap before the race -maybe you missed to put in your warm up lap too in your calculation ?-, so each lap must be 3,1904761904761904761904761904762.. km Wink long [67 km : 21 laps = ~3.1905 km !].

But as I'm not totally sure about my value after the race [it was 67km, 68 km or 69 km ..], valaue could be slightly wrong. We should do another test with driving pure laps on the track (with also no single lap through the pits) and then caluclate it again.

    Very Happy Yes, sure
my idea was to measure the center line in the MAX model.....

    ...just to have, for example, 3353.18 m. 22 Sept 2011: Blackwood 11976

But you're right, perhaps it is too much also for the German precision!!! lol!

I admit, sometimes I'm too perfectionist Embarassed

yes, you are right, I made also some warmup, not sure if a complete lap by the way.....

Ok Very Happy , I guess the center line is a bit longer than the pure ideal line when racing. I guess I needed ~3.29 km / lap -6(9) km used tires- (20 laps + 1 warm up lap) / something between 3.19 km and 3.3 km must
    be the correct ideal-line track-distance.

That's the reason for which I think the best way is to measure in MAX.

Even if, as I said perhaps an exercise only for perfectionists! 22 Sept 2011: Blackwood 29413

regarding the race, I'm totally surprised about the speed of all this guys, many drove quite constant 1:17 in ' race.. !
Even Gek was very slow here -on longruns slower than me Razz - compared to the other guys last night.? (I think he did a bad setup for the car.)
I would like to know their setup, or even my early shifiting at 5700 rpm is not the best way for a good laptime, because I used much higher gear-ratios (so less acceleration out of slow corners becasue of this).

I think 1600 and 1800 cars are very peculiar and need a specific style of driving, setup, training, so probably someone focused on winged open wheel formulas have no time to train on this models.
Moreover, very importanto to be really fast is the use of an H shifter.

Yes, it needs a more particular driving style, you're right. I set up camber, toe and diff. in the same way as in KS2 (like Mika's base KS2 setup), it was not the worst way of setup even for F1800 -used '66% front 'Roll''-. Balance was good, but I have to look at my kind of gear ratio again and the racing lines, some took the complete outside of track before the last turn and could drive much faster into the last corner this way.. .*
Of course auto clutch needs to be turned off. , driving with H-shifter, which I did already. btw.: I even signed the H-shifter buttons to the four buttons on my G25 wheel (regarding gear 1-4, -gear 5 and the reverse-gear was kept at the H-shifter),
my H-shifter is only very loose mounted to my table and has still defects at some microswitches (no contact sometimes at some gears), so I have to do it that way.
You can do this by editing the assigned button-values for the gears in the 'shifter.ini', advatage is you have always both hands on the wheel.

*edit: Yes indeed, I can drive some tenth faster when I just take the last corner from the outside (more corner speed in last turn), but 1:17 times are still a dream.
