RSR Live Timing - Page 11 Empty ABS is on?

Post by ralekseenkov Fri Dec 27, 2013 10:22 pm

    Guys, here is a question.

I ran BMW Z4 at Mugello with all assists disabled. The timing app shows that ABS is on, however I can clearly see that all assist circles are grayed out in the game. Is that a known issue? How do I debug it?

    Here is my profile:
    radiators-champ.com/RSRLiveTiming/index.php?page=driver_profile&id=2538

    Thanks,

Si sono d'accordo. I agree with you ! Very Happy

No please not -deleting- after every update Very Happy, that would be crazy. So much trainig and hard work and then everything lost, no. Only when physics of a car (or the setup abilities of a car would look totally differnt from one version to another) would have changed dramatically and that did not happen so far.

Post by M Waechter Sat Dec 28, 2013 2:56 pm

Btw.: Did at least the Lotus49 change a little bit or am I wrong ?
I'm asking because at the times of v0.1 this car felt a little more quick (more power or whatever) to me. I did 1m30.5 back then @Monza'66 with default setup and maybe around 15 l fuel + tire wear on and was far away from a 100% perfect lap (5th gear instead 4th gear in first corner and took a longer way in the first corner) when I recorded that video, which I posted (link posted Mika's former yt thread). -When I would try the same again now since v0.3 or v0.4 with same settings&setup, I would barley manage to be as fast as in v0.1, I think.
So I wonder, if s.th. has changed regarding this car, if so no much though, but maybe a little ?
    --
Edit: When I watch my video, I can see and remember that it (the rear) was acting more agile/dynamic than now. Especially in the ascaris you could push more and even use 3rd gear in the first ascari, which now does not work anymore in the same way (because the way it steers has changed).
Also -at least what I definately noticed immediately after the update to v0.2 or v0.3:- Back then in v0.1 RWD-cars got loose at the rear at a too fast downshift (like in the video at one time, as I shift to 2nd gear before last corner and the motorbrake makes the rear lose / the rear lock up a bit), which is (since v0.2 or v0.3) now much more save in such situations. So, all RWD-cars are more easy at at least the downshifting now, the rear does not lock up so much anymore or the handling has got more save now in such a case.

Edit 2 Wink: Aha, forget about my previous written stuff in this posting, now I'm getting quicker. So after all I get to the laptimes, that I expected to be possible.
I basically just used too much tire pressure (mid 20s psi), which works on some street cars and other cars as well (mid to mid-high tire pressures on this high speed track = quicker on straights), but there's no advantage doing that with the Lotus 49 & its particular tires (though too less pressure will make it too slow on straights either of course).

Very Happy

    sto sbagliando qualcosa?

RSR Live Timing - Page 11 Empty criterio classifica dei tempi

Post by Booster Mon Jan 06, 2014 6:35 pm

i filtri saranno implementati quanto prima.

our very first step should be confirming that you are driving at the absolute limit with the default set. Second step should be installing the performance shaper app to get an iRacing-like live-timing system to see EXACTLY where you need to improve.

    To gain some extra speed:
Your first change should be tire pressure. On a track with many long straights (Vallelunga), bump up the PSI by 2 or 3 all around. On a track with many rhythm sections such as Imola, lower the PSI by 2 or 3. That'll get you more corner grip.

The next change should be wing settings. Basically, you want the rear wing as low as possible without causing great amounts of oversteer. Experiment to find the best setting but usually I cut whatever the default wing amount is in half. You'll always want some amount of aero grip on the front end so I leave that setting stock. The exception to this is the Formula Abarth, which responds very well to 16/16 on the wings. My rule of thumb is that if there's giant wings on the car, they're probably there for a reason and you should use them.

Fuelwise, most cars in AC begin with 30L, I cut that in half to 15L. Depending on the track, this'll get you anywhere from five to eight laps on a tank of fuel, more than enough to eat up the tires.

The tires should be using as soft of a compound as you can. For fast times, anyways.

Coast Diff is a simple handling fix; it'll make the car turn-in better by causing lift oversteer when you move the slider to the left. Very handy with the naturally understeering GT2 and GT3 cars. Ideally, you'll want a very SLIGHT amount of oversteer; you'll end up in the sand if you go to 0%, especially in cars like the Lotus 49.

Rear camber is another handy fix that helps the car behave better in the corners. A negative value will help the car plant better in corners. Gotta really experiment with these settings but usually the default setup provides nice starting values. On places like Vallelunga with long sweeping corners, you'll want a bit more negative camber in order to get more power down on exit, whereas some of the faster tracks like Mugello don't require much rear camber at all because you're already hauling @$$.

For hotlapping, wheel rate should be as low as it can go to stiffen up the suspension. This'll get you more straightline speed. Dropping the ride height a bit helps, too much will cause problems when you start to run over kerbs. Use your own discretion based on the track. Imola has some pretty steep kerbs whereas Vallelunga's are flat. If you see sky going into Tamburello, your car is too low, bro.

Gearing, all you really need to adjust is final drive because the default values are quite good. Basically, you want to be around 2-3 mph away from hitting the chip at the end of the longest straightaway in high gear. Unless you're running at somewhere like Vallelunga Club, you won't need to touch the gearing as it's quite good by default for all cars.

Brake bias is your final adjustment, and it is relative to the front end of the car (example, the value "70" means 70front/30rear). I rarely touch this, but there are some people who will benefit from it. Too much front bias and you'll loop the car. Too much rear bias and you'll create unnecessary understeer.

Be smart and play around with the in-car aids. CTRL+T enables car-specific traction control, and CTRL+A enables ABS. ABS is a godsend. As for TC, you'll want the lowest setting possible for each car. For example, in the case of the Z4 GT3 car, which has 12 levels of TC available, level 1 is pretty much perfect for competitive times.

    Hope others can add more.
The tricky bit about setups is when you have multiple options that effect the same outcome. Eg, wanting to increase front end grip by changing front wing, front tyre pressure, camber, toe, suspension, and anti-roll bars - and then the effects this has on other areas of the car that you also need to change. The tricky part is knowing how all these things work together and the effect they all have in unison. That is something that takes a hell of a long time to learn and isn't covered in any guide or pop-up dialogue box Smile

For in AC, as far as hot-lapping goes, I always lower front tyre pressure and increase front negative camber no matter what car. But in general, for hot lapping, increase negative camber and lowering tyre pressures is helpful as a start.

And yes, setups will shave off up to 1 or 2 seconds off most lap-times if you are driving the car at the limit. But you first have to be driving at the limit to really appreciate the small differences.

Good posting Graziano ! (or whoever has written it Wink)

    -Tire pressures:
My way until now was to balance the front & rear tire pressures by using a "tire pressure-/ tire heat-/ tire wear- showing live app" (found it somewhere at RD forum) for each car. When driving, the rear tires get more hot = causing higher pressure than at the front tires. If this is the case -not with all cars though, some car's pressures are already balanced with the same values at rear+front tires-, I increase front tire pressures for ~two klicks more than at the rear tire pressures, by doing this I get same pressures at front + rear tires when driving, which might lead to a better handling or balance of the car.

    -Tire camber:
Generally said, slow and more tight tracks like Vallelunga club need less negative camber than faster tracks+much corners.
But it maybe a bit of personal preference there. I set rear tire camber to the -in its certain setup possibility- lowest possible in street cars (and some else) = more grip and front camber to -1 to -1.2 degrees. These are less negative values than at the default setups. But sometimes you need indeed a bit more negative camber than just that -especially at the front tires- for being able to reach faster speed through faster corners (after some practice).
And as always you sometimes need to tweak around there for each single car a bit as well, to find the best matching relation of front+rear camber car-& front to rear grip-balance.

Aristotelis has just announced a fix for the wing's drag of Tatuus
