Is LFS worth buying?
Is it worth buying the full version of live for speed? It seems like there are mostly crashers and people who chat way too much in the demo servers.

Re: Is LFS worth buying?
i have played LFS at a competitive level for years, especially with the BMW F1 car. take a quick look through some videos of this year's championship:
https://www.youtube.com/user/Mullog1
its the best game ive played phsyics wise. i think they have it bang on. obviously its different from rfactor and nkp, but i believe its the most advanced in terms of tyre wear and the feel. the only downside is there arent many updates as of yet - the only thing "lacking" compared to other games are the sounds of the cars (theyre not bad but could be better) and there are no real tracks, even though there are some awesome ones.
i would recommend the game to anyone who is into their racing sims. there are quite a few dds modifications and sound modifications you can do aswell.
overall, id give it a 9/10, simply because of the tracks and sounds. if it had those, plus weather, itd be the best sim ever released. this is just imo dont forget - many will argue rfactor is better. its only £24 so what the heck

Re: Is LFS worth buying?
the warping is the demo lag, its always been like that - its not like that when youre playing live
yeah, the updates are pretty non existent at the moment, but surely theyll come, and thats when everyones gonna dive back on the game

Re: Is LFS worth buying?
I doubt the devs commitment, and that people will come back. Most have moved onto either iRacing or nKPro it seems. I don't think I'll ever go back, just because the nKPro community's a million times better (but probably smaller )

Re: Is LFS worth buying?
Yes, LFS is not bad but nKP is much better. IMO LFS is little bit dull, I mean a car handling is fine but not such fun to drive like in nKP.
I never thought I say it (until I tried nKP 2 months ago.)
BTW If I set up a steering wheel to 900 degrees in nKP, there is very small FF deadzone in the middle (I use DFGT which has always small deadzone like all Logitech wheels) but If I drive with 900 in LFS, the FF deadzone is much bigger. Does anybody know how to figure it out?

Re: Is LFS worth buying?
When Netkar will have a netcode at 50% of LFS's one then there're will be about 50.000 nkp players instead of the actuall 7.000 ....
Netkar actually has ONLY 1 thing good, the force feed back.
All the rest ... is shit (tyre physic, contact, netcode etc etc etc etc).
But 1 fact is best respect 200 words.
Looking last KS2 champs race i can see only 2 servers respect the 5 when champs was started.
This mean that Netkar cannot "love" NKP for a long champs, but only for a race, or some race.
This because Nektar is ONLY a simulator, a good simalator, probably the best.
But it's NOT AN ONLINE simulator.
Lfs is the BEST ONLINE simulator, simple.
U can finalize it only after try ...

Re: Is LFS worth buying?
Oh thats right, when Kunos was working on the Abarth he found out he couldn't make it handle realistically so set about designing a new tyre model, which after over 2 years still isn't anywhere close to being finished...Michele Campini wrote:All the rest ... is shit (tyre physic, contact, netcode etc etc etc etc).
Oh wait, wrong sim'
LFS is better in certain areas (the transmission model for example), but to question the one area which most people drive nKPro for is absurd. What are iRacing also doing? Working on a new tyre model maybe?

Re: Is LFS worth buying?
looks guys, both games have their advantages and disadvantages. nothing in life is ever perfect. sims are 90% personal preference which is why some play nkp, some play lfs. ill admit lfs is technically the better game but nkp is so much more fun. im not going to state what i like or dislike about each game (although most can probably guess what they are) but people should not be so ignorant just because they prefer one game over another. there are 4/5 good sims out there so stop saying others are sh*t just because you like nkp. its immature and childish. respect the game you love and love the game as it is

Re: Is LFS worth buying?
Actually i'm doing 4 champs, 1 with LFS, 2 with rFactor and 1 with NKP.
I think that the perfect SIM do not exist, of course.
LFS is pratically perfect, but there are the same track and same cars.
NKP is the best to drive but there only formula car and the netcode ...
rFactor is a shit to drive but there are a lot of cars and track and netcode work fine.
But you can not deny the obvious regarding the netcode/contact problems with KS2 in NKP.
Are about 2 months that these problems are out. Where are the devs ?

Who's denying them? I posted this the day after 1.2 was released, then another when the problem wasn't fixed in the auto-updates.Michele Campini wrote:But you can not deny the obvious regarding the netcode/contact problems with KS2 in NKP.

wow... old thread. well fast forward to almost 2 years (last post is on january 2011)
- lfs still waiting for s3
- rfactor 2 is out but still beta
- nkp is v 1.3 and good netcode. then there is AC.
so thats what us sim racer got from 2 years. not to mention pCARS and SimBin.

Re: Is LFS worth buying?
I very much doubt they will ever release S3, & even if they do it'll be way too late (compared to where the competition are now). I do hope they release Rockingham though, it seems a waste to of scanned the track for nothing (apart from promo events iirc).
