    KS2 2012 Schedule Ideas Empty KS2 2012 Schedule Ideas

Post by MikaRaymond Mon Dec 12, 2011 1:16 am

Now the KS2 Championship has finally come to an end, it's time to look back and reflect on the good (and not-so-good!) ideas we had over the course of the year. This thread is primarily based on collecting information about the race schedules, to try and create a more fun, popular and exciting championship for next year.

Please copy and paste each option you prefer and explain why you like it (or how we could improve it!). Please remember this thread is based on the race schedule itself - we are looking at updating the rulebook and whatnot at a later time.

    Option A:
    15 minute Qualification
    45-50 minute Race

    Option B:
    15 minute Qualification
    Race 1 - 20 minutes
    Race 2 - 40 minutes

    Option C:
Pre-qualification - A passworded server running through the week which records the driver's fastest lap via a hotlap tool. The server will be closed 1 day before the event. The top 15 drivers will race in group A, drivers 16-31 B and so on. (this is to help keep the skill level roughly the same).
Qualification: 10 minutes (to place the grid)
    Race - 50-60 minute race.

    Option D:
    Pre-qualification
Qualification: 10 minutes (to place the grid)
    Race 1 - 20 minutes
    Race 2 - 40 minutes

Option B. I think one race is too much preparation just to have it ruined at turn one. I hate PQ as well, I prefer how we practice racing more in RSR, as it's a lot of fun & leads to the official races being better.

I fully agree with Marius on the PQ. For me people should practice on racing closer rather than hotlapping for a week.
Furthermore, there is no proper hotlap tool with live results at the moment. The one we have, isn't good enough, I'm afraid.
    Any volunteer?

In any case, it's just up to you, since I personally have enough of the KS2. If you guys want to have one more KS2 champ, is absolutely fine to me though.

I would proceed with KS2....it is like being in F1, once you get it you don't want to go back driving a F3...We can organize some special event with the other cars...

Option B for me, I like to have two races....

I think more should be done to promote the championsip and the races, it is a pity that we start with 40-50 people, and we finished with just 15...More precise rules should help in getting this target I guess...

I was thinking (maybe) a support series as well, kind of like a GP2/GP3 thing, with the F2000?

Well the interest did wane as the year went on, I don't think it had anything to do with promotion since Radiators is one of the primary sites for Netkar information now. Maybe the inside sim racing guys could give a shout out for us since they are big fans of Netkar. I think the season was a bit long really it was nice to follow the f1 events. But maybe should be broken up with another championship with some other car. I do think there needs to be some way of keeping the same speed people together though always makes for better racing.

    Option C:
Pre-qualification - A passworded server running through the
week which records the driver's fastest lap via a hotlap tool. The
server will be closed 1 day before the event. The top 15 drivers will
race in group A, drivers 16-31 B and so on. (this is to help keep the
    skill level roughly the same).
Qualification: 10 minutes (to place the grid)
    Race - 50-60 minute race.

But instead of having the Pre-Q open for the week before the race, maybe
just have it open for the last 2 days before the event, and all the
days before this could be the same as it is now with short Qul and
short races , so people can setup the car and practice racing.
Like this everyone has time to get a setup and practice racing with others.
If we can sort out the Hot-lap tool, then I think this could sort out the group skill levels.

As for having the same points for all the groups, I don't think this would work.
For example......say there is someone in the B group who regularly wins and who could get into the A group in 13/14th position, why would they try to move to the A group and finish in a lower position for less point when they could stay in B and win and get the same points as the winner of A.

I hope this makes sense cyclops

I have a very simple and easy method of utilising the tools we already have for prequalifying. I'm sure something more advanced can be worked on before the season starts again so don't worry about that.

Option C - I also like the idea of having a support series and the KS2 being the elite netkar series with the other ones allowing new racers to race with the goal of making it into KS2.

As long as there are more drivers next year, then I choose option C... But if we have the same number of drivers taking part as we do at the moment, then PQ wouldn't really be worth it. Hopefully there will be a few new guys next year to get the numbers up Smile

Jaap had a great PQ system at GPChampionship, so I'm sure he could help you with getting the PQ server/ranking working.

    Hey Guys,

i would prefer Option C as well.

But I would run the Q-Server only 3 days before the race. So we/you guys can have the mini races in the week before. But i would keep the mini race server running. so you can go and have a quick qualifying and after that you can go racing again.

I think for the slower guys it would be nicer if you would split the groups in the middle. Otherwise when there are always around 20 people racing and only 5 on server B, it will not last long until these 5 guys are gone.

I would also prefer a slower car. It is easier for new people and slower cars always gives us closer racing. So would take F2000 or the Formula 3. And the nicest think would be if someone could make something like a base setup for everyweek. For people with not so much time and knowledge. The KS2 is very complex.

Thats it for the moment. :-)

Thanks for the input guys. We will look at the options we have regarding pre-qualifying.

The next question is about the schedule. Here are the options:

    a) Use our own schedule
    b) Follow the F1 calendar (with more breaks this time)
    c) Follow the GP2 / support series calendar

Again, any input / opinions would be great!

Regarding the event I would like two races better like F Grippa does.
    So option B (or D).
One long race can get boring when gaps between drivers grow after many laps and you're just left alone on track lapping for yourself.
Having tow races is more exciting.

Regarding to the schedule I would tend to option A this time (own schedule).

Using our own schedule's better. F1 visits a lot of boring tracks, & we don't have all of them anyway, plus finding good versions of new additions to the calendar is tricky (like with Singapore).

Yep, I vote for option A as well. There are so many great tracks for netKar now, I think it would be a shame to limit the season to the F1 tracks.

9 Very Happy Looking back over past champs they had 9 rounds, but that was when there was a race a week. GPC was every two weeks & only 6 rounds. Obviously we don't want the champ' to feel like it's dragging on, so work out how often the races are gonna be first.
