Re: NetKar Servers
Unfortunately the netcode of nK doesn't allow more.Piers Structures wrote:Thanks Andrea. So nothing to do with bandwith?

Re: NetKar Servers
it's not about the bandwidth, just the way it's coded. It was a decision a the beginning of the core project. Kunos said that changing it to add more slots wouldn't be trivial, because would mean to revise quite a lot of code.
in any case with the numbers we have in nk, 15 is a good number to have balanced groups.
furthermore, more slots = more bandwidth, so more strict requirements for servers and clients.

Re: NetKar Servers
Thanks again Andrea. The manual does say 15 but the server reports stats for 20 clients and doesn't throw an error with the config file set to >15, hence my slight confusion. I'll be making available a "vulture racing" server (or two) which sit at the end of a 100/100Mbs link. They will probably end up evenings and weekends only but if they can be of assistance to Radiator Springs in any way, let me know.

Re: NetKar Servers
I find it confusing too sometimes, due to the similar avatars I was wondering why there's 16 slots in the nkrefs? Think I may have asked this before (but can't remember the answer... if there was one ). It's probably Kunos' private parking space so that he can always access a server... in the unlikely event it's fullRené Lorig wrote:And his name is Giancarlo, by the way.
